Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

I'm writing this daily recap on Thanksgiving evening, and I cannot believe I'm already 10% of the way done with this 30 day challenge!

In today's morning stream, I dig deep into thankfulness (since it is of course Thanksgiving).  When a new well is dug in a village, there is a celebration like none other, as pure clean water rockets from the earth.  What was once far away and contaminated is now close and clean. I can't even begin to comprehend how deep the gratitude is that these people must feel.

When a well is dug in a village, the residents refer to events in the past as being "before the water" or "after the water".  That is how significant this event is to the individuals and throughout their community.  How many of us can say we have such significant events in our lives? How thankful are we really? How can we have the perspective to truly understand how blessed we are when we have never gone without. My life is overflowing with blessings that I am of course thankful for, but I question how deeply I really feel these blessings. Much of what I have I do not know the alternative of, only that it would be bad. I've always had access to clean water. My children have always been healthy. I've always had warm clothes, and I've always had food on my plate.

I live a blessed life!

If I could be 10% as thankful for everything I have, as those impacted by the global water crisis are when they receive water, I think I just might begin to truly understand deep appreciation.

Some challenge updates, my buddy Joe Gomez finished off a 36 hour challenge, and in turn challenged three of his friend to complete a 24 hour challenge. I'm hopeful a few of them will take part!

I challenged all of my siblings today. I know that at least five of them plan on taking part over the next few days. I'm excited to see their progress and what kind of an impact they can make as they talk to their friends and family about the global water crisis.

One thing I keep hearing from people is that this challenge makes sense. That it is logical to inconvenience yourself just a little bit, in hopes of understanding the plight of others. The challenge isn't sexy, or funny. It's boring. But it's effective, and it helps us to grow and understand as individuals.

27 more days to go!
